It's basically the same story as Osiris and Isis but from a different personal perspective

The crumbs and stones lining the way home are the and as the pieces that Osiris is broken into that Isis must put back together

It symbolises the outside and outside pressures in this world, creating cascading fractal positive and negative systems that essentially break down and divide matter, whilst also combing and creating it

The interaction of gravity and entropy to create all that is between the open systems above and the unseen internal systems below. "The edible house" we live in

Which can either come to consume us through things such as gluttony, or be consumed by us

Remember that the witch wasn't the only bad guy in Hansel and Gretel, wanting to eat the kids for meat. They were also very literally consuming and destroying her house from around her

Its all about the process of consumption. Predator and prey. The circle of life. The hungry witch was no more evil than anyone who has ever eaten a steak

The witch and the children could more so symbolise the evolution of generations. Each older generation seeking to suppress the new younger generation and each younger generation needing to overcome the older generations before them
